From Bluegrass Unlimited, February 2016: This is a delightful project from this Seattle, Wash.-based group. Originally a duo of Don Share (guitar) and Debby Nagusky (guitar), they were joined by Julian Smedley (violin, viola), Greg Glassman (bass), and Bob Knetzger (banjo, resonator guitar) to become The Debutones. Their repertoire is taken from bluegrass, country, and folk and includes tunes from Pierce Pettis, Mark Simos, Larry Cordle, Buddy Davis, David Olney, and others. Selections include “Oklahoma,” “My First Mistake,” “You Are Here,” “Look My Way,” “No Summer Storm,” “I Don’t Have To Dream,” and “Dying For Someone To Live For.” The band has a softer approach to their music which focuses on the leads and harmonies of Share and Nagusky, with additional harmony from Smedley and Glassman. Nagusky adds one original “Please Come Home.” The arrangements are instrumentally and vocally solid. A nice new project from this Northwest group.
